“We don’t forget that we are counselors first, attorneys second. It is rare a client is not in need of a counselor. We work with our clients in order to prepare them to go out the door and leave better than when they came in.”
James R. Rey, a proud El Paso native, returned to his hometown in 2000 to establish his family law practice after spending eight years in Arizona pursuing his education. For over two decades, James has built a thriving law firm rooted in his unwavering dedication to his clients’ success. His approach is deeply personal, driven by a commitment to not only address his clients’ legal needs but also to support them beyond the courtroom, fostering lasting connections.
“We want our clients to feel like family. They know they can reach us directly, whether by call or text, and we’re here for them long after their case is resolved.”
Raised by his mother, a prominent figure in El Paso’s legal and downtown real estate communities since founding Amigo Bail Bonds in 1975, James grew up immersed in the city’s legal landscape. As a third-generation attorney on his father’s side, his lifelong connection to the El Paso legal community has shaped him into a trusted, diligent, and highly regarded attorney and entrepreneur. James has also invested in the city’s future, acquiring and restoring properties in the downtown redevelopment area alongside his family, contributing to the revitalization of the heart of El Paso. As a founding board member of the El Paso Community Foundation Plaza Theatre project, his passion for the growth and prosperity of his hometown shines through.
Beyond his professional achievements, James is a nationally recognized tennis player. A 1992 Texas High School State Tennis Champion at Coronado High School, he continued his success at the University of Arizona, earning a spot on the 1994 Pac-10 Conference Men’s Tennis All-Academic First Team as a four-year letter winner. Today, James remains an avid competitive tennis player and cherishes spending time with his family.
